Wydad mulls European leadership after Cup exit
Wydad Casablanca is set to announce the dismissal of coach Mohammed Amine Benhaashm after the team's exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club failed to reach the semi-finals and were eliminated in the quarterfinals by fellow Moroccan rivals Olympique Safi.
Le360 Sport reported that Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido has entered the shortlist to lead the Red Eagles.
Sources say Wydad is weighing several names, with Hussein Amouta, Patrice Carteron, and Garrido among the frontrunners.
Garrido would bring solid experience in Morocco's top flight, having previously coached Wydad and Raja.
Le360 Sport notes that Garrido has been relieved of duties at several clubs during his managerial career.
Among his stints, he coached Al Ahly (Egypt), Al-Ettifaq (Saudi Arabia), Etoile du Sahel, Wydad and Raja, Al-Ittihad (Libya), and Persepolis.
