Controversy over a disputed second-leg decision
Officials of Al Masry Port Said have formally lodged a protest with the Confederation of African Football, challenging the non-red card for Shabab Belouizdad's Jaber Kaissis in the second leg of the Confederation Cup quarterfinal, despite two yellows.
According to Cairo 24, Masry officials argued that the player deserved a sending-off under refereeing rules, and that the decision affected the flow and result of the match, pushing the club to seek formal action to protect its rights and open the file.
The Egyptian club also attached all video clips of the incident, calling for an urgent investigation, as well as a review of the dialogue between the Zimbabwean referee Brighton Chiminyi and the Video Assistant Referee room, to ensure the soundness of the refereeing decisions taken during the match.
