When Pride Meets the Flame: Pyramids FC Fights Flamengo in Doha
13 December 2025
Post-match reflections
Krunoslav Jurčić, the head coach of Pyramids FC, voiced disappointment after a 0-2 loss to Flamengo in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals, this time in Doha tonight.
Pyramids conceded two goals, in the 24th and 50th minutes, at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Doha.
He said Flamengo faced a strong opponent with many standout players, making the clash a tough test.
The Croatian coach added that Pyramids played with positivity across both halves and even threatened Flamengo’s goal.
He also stressed that he was proud of his players’ level, both individually and collectively, and that the team will continue to improve.
Notes on Flamengo and the road ahead
Jurčić noted Flamengo’s quality and rhythm control; the Brazilians will meet Paris Saint-Germain.
On defensive crosses, he acknowledged that errors happen in football, but stressed the need to improve.
Mustafa Abdel-Raouf 'Zico', a Pyramids player, said the team aimed to make Egyptian football proud, but luck wasn't with them.
He added that two crosses conceded raise questions, though Flamengo had sharper players.
Punchline 1: If football is a game of inches, today the inches wore sandals.
Punchline 2: Next time, Pyramids will bring a bigger goal to block Flamengo's rhythm.
