Zamalek eased past Masry of Port Said 4-1 at Burj Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, opening the league title phase with a statement win.
Masry struck first in the 13th minute through Osama Zamrawi, but Zamalek hit back in the 30th via Adi El-Dabbagh to level.
Nasser Monsi then struck twice for the Cairo side, in the 44th and 75th minutes, before Hossam Abdel Majid completed the scoring in the 87th.
Zamalek move into 46 points, three clear of second-placed Pyramids, while Masry sit on 32 in fifth.
Monsi earned man-of-the-match honors for his two goals and all-around display.
In the relegation group, Bank Al Ahly beat Haras El Hodoud 4-2, with Osama Faisal, Ahmed Yasser Rayan (twice), and Said Neymar on target; Haras Hodoud replied through Moamen Awwad and Mohamed Hamdi.
Bank Al Ahly rose to 30 points, third, while Haras Hodoud stayed on 18 in 11th.
Ismaily and Talaea El-Gaish shared the spoils in a goalless draw, leaving Ismaily bottom on 13 and Talaea in seventh with 23.
