Yamal: I Didn't Focus on Dribbling—I Learned from Messi and a Real Madrid Icon
Yamal discusses how Messi and Modrić shaped his approach to the game.

Young Yamal's Shift in Focus

I didn’t focus much on dribbling when I was young.

Lamine Yamal, Barcelona's star, said he didn't focus much on dribbling when he was young, but was more interested in passing.

Sport published Yamal's remarks during an interview with 60 Minutes on CBS.

Yamal explained, "It's strange that when I was young, I didn't dribble much or go past many opponents. I scored a lot of goals and ran a lot, but the most important thing I had was a good vision of the game".

I basically watched what Lionel Messi did, because he gave different passes, passes that almost were goals.

And he continued, "I also watched Luka Modrić and his outside passes. These things interested me more than dribbling, because they relate to the mind more".
