Transfer shock at Al Ahly
The Bank of Al Ahly delivered a sharp shock to Al Ahly, demanding as much as 100 million pounds to release defender Amr El Gazaar in the current winter window.
A Kooora source said officials spoke with their Bank of Al Ahly counterparts about signing Gazaar, but the price hit 100 million pounds. Al Ahly calls the figure excessive and aims to negotiate lower due to the defensive need.
Yassin Mansour, the club's deputy president, will meet Mohamed Al-Atabi, head of the Bank, to lower the sum or explore swap deals to ease the process.
Deal options and coach's view
The club may include a player in the deal if technically needed, in line with Danish coach Jes Torup's view.
Punchline 1: If football transfers were priced like this, even a coffee would require a loan. Punchline 2: At 100 million pounds, Amr El Gazaar better come with a win bonus and a lifetime supply of kebabs.
