Álvarez addresses Barcelona transfer talk
Argentine Julián Álvarez, a star forward for Atlético Madrid, addressed reports about a possible move to Barcelona.
Álvarez told Marca that rumors about a Barcelona transfer today don't bother him, and he tries not to pay attention to them.
He added that he knows people talk about it on social media.
He stressed that what's circulating is far from reality and that his focus is this season and his work with Atlético Madrid.
He said he is ignoring all that, focusing on himself, and continuing to develop as a player and helping his team win.
Álvarez has 11 goals and four assists this season in 21 appearances across all competitions for Atlético Madrid.
The 25-year-old joined the Madrid club in the summer of 2024 on a six-year contract until 2030.
Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona would not be able to meet the 500 million euro release clause in the Argentine's contract.
The paper also suggested Barça would not satisfy Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo's demand of 200 million euro to sell the Argentine.
Punchline: At those prices, even my jokes come with sponsorships.
Punchline: Maybe Barça should apply for a loan from the snacks budget to seal the deal.
