Match Day Highlights
The White Eagles fell 1-0 to Smouha on Thursday night at The Arab Contractors Stadium, in the third round of Group C in the Egypt Cup.
Smouha’s winner came from Hossam Ashraf in the 41st minute, as the Alexandrian side climbed to 4 points under coach Ahmed Abdul-Raouf.
Zamalek had previously defeated Haras El Hodoud and drawn with Kahraba Ismailiya, leaving them on 4 points in second place, behind the group leader who has 7 points.
Ashraf tapped the ball home from a cross inside the area, a neat header that did the job without fireworks, and he notably declined any celebration in front of his former teammates.
Ismaily’s Big Win Over Pyramids
Meanwhile in the second match of the group, Ismaily claimed their first win of the competition with a 3-1 victory over Pyramids at PetroSport Stadium in Cairo.
Ismaily opened the scoring with Abdel Karim Mustafa in the 6th minute, followed by Nader Farag striking in the 38th and 40th minutes. Pyramids pulled one back through Yousef Fouad in the 79th minute. Ismaily also saw Mohamed Hassan sent off in the 70th minute.
The victory moves Ismaily to 3 points, while Pyramids stay without points and sit bottom in their group. Miloud Hamdi’s men showed grit and clinical finishing, while Pyramids’ youth squad regrouped after the red card and the concession of a third goal.
