Tebas fires back: No narratives, just the law
Javier Tebas, head of La Liga, replied to Florentino Perez's latest tirade at the club's annual Christmas lunch, accusing the league of drift in the Negreira affair that has Barcelona entangled in allegations of paying referees to influence matches.
Tebas posted on social media, addressing Perez directly: "Don't let them write your narrative for you, Mr. President. In any legal process, you don't interfere at the request of the interested party; you follow the orderly procedure to appear before the authorities. The sequence here was clear and decisive: the Public Prosecutor, then Estrada Fernández's lawyer, then La Liga, even though we moved before the Prosecutor."
He added: "Finally, Real Madrid was the last to stand before the court. Do you remember why you were last? This laziness, then."
He noted that the Prosecutor asked 19 questions, Estrada Fernández's attorney two, and then La Liga's attorney asked one more. Madrid's later lines of questioning had already been answered by Luis Enrique and Valverde, he argued.
