Arab Cup momentum shapes Roshen schedule
The Roshen Saudi Pro League is watching closely to see how the Saudi national team's Arab Cup campaign unfolds, as the tournament currently takes place in Qatar and runs through December 18.
The Green Army progressed to the quarterfinals with wins over Oman 2-1 and Comoros 3-1, and now awaits the identity of their next quarterfinal opponent.
According to the Saudi daily Al-Yawm, the Roshen schedule's tenth round, set to begin on Friday, December 19, will be heavily influenced by the Green's performance in the Arab Cup.
The Pro League Organization also stated that if the national team reaches the semifinals, the entire tenth round will be postponed to February, with play resuming normally from the eleventh round.
For Hervé Renard's side reaching the semifinal, there are two possibilities: advance to the final to contest the title, or lose and still compete for third place under the tournament rules.
In either scenario, the Saudi team will wait until the late days of the tournament, delaying players' return to their clubs; postponement appears to be the sensible choice if the Green advance to the semifinals.
