Bono's Comeback Countdown: Can Al Hilal Ride the Momentum Without Him?
23 January 2026
Injury Update
Al Hilal received a morale boost as reassuring updates emerged about Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono following the muscle injury he suffered after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 for fans and players alike.
He played for Morocco against Senegal, a match ended in a 1-0 loss for the Atlas Lions, in the tournament hosted on Moroccan soil, before returning to Riyadh to resume training with the club.
Yet the goalkeeper’s muscle injury raised concerns among fans and the coaching staff, led by Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, especially with a tight fixture list and the club entering a phase of the season.
Current Status
In a positive development, Al Hilal announced in an official statement on X that Bono continues his therapeutic and rehabilitation program steadily, with improvement in his condition, opening the door for a return to action.
Reporter Hamad Al-Suwailehi added that Bono’s injury should not spark worry, noting the keeper is close to returning, whether for the clash with Al Qadisiyah on January 29 or the month after.
Bono has appeared with Al Hilal this season in 16 matches across domestic competitions, conceding 15 goals and keeping six clean sheets.
