Egypt's Bold AFCON Blueprint: December Camp and Group B Battles
30 November 2025
AFCON Preparation Overview
Ibrahim Hassan, Egypt's national team director, unveiled the preparation plan for the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled from December 21 to January 18 this year.
Egypt are in Group B of tournament with Zimbabwe, Angola and South Africa.
Egypt will begin their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on December 22 with Zimbabwe, then meet South Africa on December 26 before facing Angola on December 29 in the group.
Ibrahim Hassan, the team director, revealed details of Egypt's camp in December as they prepare for the Africa Cup tournament.
The Egypt camp will begin Wednesday, running for three days at the National Team Project headquarters in Six October City before a closed camp starts December 7 at Cairo Stadium.
Hassan said to the federation's media center: we will play one warm-up against Nigeria on December 14 at Cairo Stadium before heading to Morocco on December 17 this year.
He also did not disclose details about players based in Europe, notably Mohamed Salah, captain of Egypt and Liverpool, and Omar Marmoush of Manchester City, along with Mustafa Muhammad of Nantes, France too.
There were reports that the European trio preferred to travel directly to Morocco, skipping the Nigeria friendly warm-up this time.
Punchline 1: If Egypt's defense were as sharp as their schedule, opponents would need a calendar to score. Punchline 2: And if the goals vanish, at least the press conferences will be loud.
