Injury Woes Ahead of Rennes Clash
Achraf Hakimi, PSG's right-back, tops a long injury list for Rennes, as the team juggles setbacks while chasing another win, and the squad is feeling the pinch.
Rennes visit PSG on Saturday at Parc des Princes for Ligue 1 matchday 15, a fixture that could shape the table ahead of a crucial afternoon kickoff.
Lineup News and Context
Head coach Luis Enrique named the squad, with Hakimi out due to a left ankle injury picked up against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on November 4, keeping him sidelined for this weekend.
Lucas Chevalier, PSG's goalkeeper, will miss his first appearance for the club because of an ankle issue following a heavy challenge in the previous Monaco clash.
Nuno Mendes, the left-back, remains out with a thigh strain, and Brazilian defender Lucas Peraldo is also sidelined with a leg muscle problem.
Le Parisien reported Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarni was withdrawn late due to a health issue, while Désiré Doi remains not fully recovered from a thigh injury.
By contrast, Enrique called up young defender Noah Camara to cover the absences for the rest of the season.
The PSG squad spans goalkeepers to attackers, with plans to adapt to the absences. They remain second in Ligue 1 with 30 points, while Rennes sit fifth with 24 after four straight wins.
And yes, if injuries had a scoreboard, PSG would lead the league in absences this season.
Despite the injuries, PSG remain confident in their depth and will rely on Camara and other youngsters to step up.
If injuries were a sport, PSG would win the league every year—just not on the pitch today.
