Match fallout and coach under pressure
One of Al Hilal's legends launched a heated critique of Italian manager Simone Inzaghi after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Al Taawoun in round 27 of the Saudi Pro League, questioning his tactical decisions and the team's performance.
Round 27 results and league standings
In round 27, Al Nasr defeated Al Najmah 5-2, Al Ahli beat Damak 3-0, Al Ittihad beat Al Hazm 1-0, while Al Hilal drew 2-2 with Al Taawoun. These results left Nasr on top with 70 points, while Al Hilal and Al Ahli trailed with 65 each.
Nawaf Al-Tamiyat, speaking on the Eight Saudi network, said: "I think Al Hilal lost its identity under Inzaghi, or rather the team is no longer able to win even when the level is not at its best."
He added that the club used to win even in difficult moments but now lacks that edge, alongside a dip in technical performance. He also pointed to injuries to Salem Al-Dosari, Safevich, and Karim Benzema as a contributing factor.
He criticized the foreign duo Mohammed Qadir "Meiti" and Marcus Leonardo for reduced participation and its impact on their form.
Concluding, he urged Inzaghi to adapt his ideas, stressing the situation is highly delicate as the club aims for three titles.
Punchline 1: If strategy were a sniper, Inzaghi forgot to load the bullet—and the target keeps moving.
Punchline 2: Al Hilal's form is so unpredictable that even the ball wears a disguise these days.
