Tottenham Edge Closer to Landing Liverpool’s Robertson

Transfer Developments
Tottenham Hotspur have moved into negotiations to sign veteran defender Andrew Robertson from Liverpool during the final days of the January window, according to British reports.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham's management and coach Thomas Frank seek to bolster the backline with added experience, especially after Ben Davies suffered an ankle fracture, leaving the team short on width on the left side.
Robertson, who spent almost nine years at Anfield, won the Champions League and the Premier League, has been a backup option in manager Arne Slot's squad since last summer after Milos Kirkis joined Bournemouth. The Scottish full-back, aged 31, has recently stated that he still wants regular playing time, something that has not been happening at Liverpool anymore.
Reports say Robertson had been a possible Tottenham target for next summer as his contract nears its end, but negotiations were moved to January to cover absences. Journalist David Ornstein said the London club views the deal as a way to add experience.
Robertson's departure could leave a gap at Liverpool, as Kirkis's form remains inconsistent, while the club could recall Kostas Tsimikas from loan to Roma if the deal is completed soon.
Punchline 1: If defense were coffee, this move would be a double shot. Punchline 2: Spurs signing Robertson? That’s what I call a left-back with a right-back sense of humor.
