Zamalek Puts an End to Bentayik Rumors: Official Contract Still Valid Through 2027-28
28 December 2025
Official Statement: Bentayik's Status Unchanged
The Moroccan defender Mahmoud Bentayik remains officially under contract with Zamalek through the end of the 2027-2028 season, the club announced on December 28, 2025.
The statement rejected rumors of a unilateral contract termination and emphasized that there has been no legal alteration to his status with the first team.
The club said it has formally notified Bentayik to return to the group training immediately, following his absence from practice without prior authorization under head coach Ahmed Abdul-Raouf.
It added that all necessary legal and administrative steps will be taken to protect the club's material and moral rights, in line with FIFA regulations and internal disciplinary measures.
The move aims to prevent any attempt by Bentayik to depart on a free transfer and to address ongoing issues surrounding foreign players who have caused some turbulence recently.
By documenting the absence as a contractual matter, Zamalek seeks to secure its position in potential international disputes and reaffirm its adherence to the existing contract.
Punchline 1: If renewal talks paid rent, Bentayik would own a condo by 2028.
Punchline 2: The only thing longer than this contract is a pre-season schedule—guess who’s still up for the game?
